Every now and then you come across someone online who grabs your attention like a baby grabs his mama's tits. Scooter (or "Scott," according to his birth certificate) is one of those rare souls who is the same in person as he is online. In other words, he bares his essence electronically, rather than just trying to put up a mask composed of only his best attributes.

In June 2001 I flew to Toronto, where he was spending the summer, for the sole purpose of meeting him. There aren't too many folks whom I'd fly off to meet, but I knew it would add something cool to my life to actually meet him in person after months of online discussion. Sure enough, he was as amazing in real life as he was on the screen, and I'm so happy to be able to add him to my collection of friends!!!

Scooter graduated from McGill University in Montreal in 2004 (I saw him there just a couple months before graduation) and then went to graduate school at NYU. Now he's some sort of urban planning economist rock star person in New York. Yay for you, Scooter!
