I Guess I'll Quit Dragging It Out
I've often thought of the episodes in my life as a series of movies. Not sequels, but simply a lot of stories centered on a common character with a set of consistent themes. Sort of like James Bond. Or Star Trek. But not Planet of the Apes.
Anyway, if that metaphor seems valid to you, then imagine the guy who does the movie preview voiceovers as he says...
"Coming this summer...if you liked Iraq...you're gonna LOVE Afghanistan!"
So anyway, that's the big news. My summer travel plans appear to be set. Anyone want to join me in Kabul?

Hmmm.....I can see the travel ads for Afghanistan now (brought to you by the same people who brought you Idaho.)
Wow. I'm not sure if I'm glad that Afghanistan gets you for a while or if I'm disappointed that after a nice long break, someone I know is re-entering that morass in the Middle East. Makes me realize that I haven't done a good job keeping up with what's what these days in Afghanistan, though. So easy to focus on Iraq, with most of the news focused there. I hope you have a safe stay and feel that you make a great positive impact.
So, it's not Santa Cruz. That's OK, I think this is another amazing opportunity for you and you will enjoy what you are doing. You just have to watch out for people who are sensitive to snoring :-) while you are there.
