Cool Balcony

So, I'm sitting out here on the 18th floor watching the world wake up. Well, actually, most of the world seems to be awake and I'm the one who's just catching up with it.

I'm waving at people but they don't see me. Or maybe they just don't care.

In a few hours I fly to Germany...after getting off the plane in Frankfurt at a little after 9 tomorrow morning I have a meeting in Heidelberg at 1. No time to catch our breath, I suppose. Hope I sleep well on the plane (yay for my business class upgrade!).

Got my tickets for Bangkok and Singapore the other day. I get to spend a weekend in Bangkok, where I'll get to visit Raberd, then run to Singapore for a few days and finally meet some online friends I've been chatting with for years. Very cool. Canada is probably next on the list for meeting online friends. And Malaysia, you better watch out!!

I want donuts but I guess that means I have to go get them.

We went to a wedding last night, Adrian's college roommate's. It was very fun, we met some great people and Adrian saw some friends from college whom he hasn't seen in years. His high school's 10-year reunion was also last night, and we'd thought about leaving the wedding reception to drive back for that, but he realized he knew more people at the wedding than he ever knew in high school, so we just stayed. And in fact, were the last ones to leave. Hope the newly-married couple wasn't too tired to have sex, 'cuz that would be bad.

I haven't packed yet for Germany. I wonder if I need to do laundry? Better check on that.

Douglas is in Germany. We're supposed to be in Stuttgart one day so I'm hoping to see him. I've had this trip planned for the last 5 weeks, and naturally people got added to it at the last minute and then developed an agenda that didn't match our flights and hotels. Naturally. try changing your travel arrangements for Germany right now and see how far you get (hint: it's Oktoberfest time).

Many friends here in DC probably wonder what's happened to me, I've dropped off the face of the earth. Travel, of course, plays a part in that, but other things do to. Need to talk to people and let them know what all's been going on but finding the right time to sit down with folks isn't easy. And even I'M not sure what all is going on, so it's tough to explain.

Damn. I really want donuts. Guess I better go find my pants.

Comments:
Hope all is okay. I've been concerned at the tone of some of your recent entries. Sounds like you're struggling with a few things. Know that you have many positive minds behind you! Patience...

I had a donut craving yesterday. Damn apple fritters....it's like crack to me.

Also, wish me luck on my career fair visit tomorrow. Hope I get a career started soon....sigh.

David -- thanks for your concern, I'm mostly OK, all will be revealed once I understand it myself

Ivan -- good luck! though of course, I wish you were completing your PhD, but hey, that's my bias showing through
